Bio's

Steve Berry, BA, NREMT-P

A former teacher and interpreter for the hearing impaired, Steve has published 10 EMS related cartoon books since his escapades as a paramedic/EMS instructor began 20+ years ago. Steve writes a monthly humor column for JEMS Magazine along with cartoon illustrations for both JEMS, Fire Rescue Magazine, and Wildland Firefighter Magazine. Steve is an internationally recognized speaker who’s presentations take a humerous look at a wide variety of EMS related topics and carry a serious and compassionate message. A part-time paramedic with the AMR of Colorado Springs, Steve seeks world peace along with frequent flyer mileage.

George Raine

is President and founder of Groupe Conseil Montana / Montana Consulting Group, a Moncton-based firm specializing in organizational change, industrial relations strategy, and leadership development.  Montana has grown quickly since its establishment in 2004 to serve more than 100 well-known organizations across Canada and the United States.  His 32 year career in HR has included executive level positions with major employers such as Irving, Frigidaire Canada, Stelco Inc., the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, and the Government of Nova Scotia.  He has worked in all Canadian and many US employment jurisdictions

George Raine was a co-founder and twice president of the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations.  He was educated at Queen's University, at the Institut Montana in Zug, Switzerland, and on many a shop floor.

Timothy K.S. Christie,

Dr. Timothy Christie is the Regional Director of Ethics Services for Horizon Health Network in New Brunswick. Dr. Christie is a philosopher and an epidemiologist specializing in medical ethics.  He earned a BA (first class honours) and MA from the University of New Brunswick, a PhD from the University of Ottawa, and a Master of Health Science degree (MHSc) in Epidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. 

Ryan Esligar

Ryan was born in Fredericton, NB, where he currently lives today.  He graduated from UNB with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2008. He has been working as a collision investigator with the UNB Collision Investigation Team since the fall of 2008. His work with the UNB Team includes performing motor vehicle collision and defect investigations for Transport Canada throughout the province of New Brunswick. Ryan also completed a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from UNB in 2011.

Erin Crandall

Erin graduated from the University of New Brunswick (Saint John Campus) in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology and in 2005  with a Master of Arts in Psychology. Faced with the choice of continuing her studies in Psychology or finding a job, Erin decided to go to law school.  She completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) in 2007. Throughout law school and after graduation, the focus of her work was in medical malpractice defense and commercial litigation. Erin has been a Patient Representative with the Horizon Health Network since September 2007.  Erin enjoys her work and is looking forward to many years of helping the public navigate the healthcare system.

Karen Thomas

Karen Thomas has been an RN for 33 years and is currently the manager and program co-ordinator of Ridgewood detox and treatment center in Saint John, NB. She has held this current for position 4 and considers it her dream job.  Prior to working here Karen was the acting facility manager on Grand Manan and has worked for and in addiction services in both a community and clinical capacity.

Michael McCallion
 
In his 27 years with Toronto EMS, Michael worked through the ranks, first as a Primary Care Paramedic through to Advanced Care, serving as a Field Training Officer/Preceptor, as well as member of the Emergency Response Unit. In his management career, Michael started as an Operations Supervisor, and Operational Support Supervisor in District 3, moved to Operational Duty Officer in the Communications Centre, then to Special Operations as both Operational Support Superintendent and Commander.

Michael has demonstrated his leadership roles as EMS Team Manager/Training Cadre-Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (CAN-TF3), Operations Manager-Public Safety Unit, and as an Operations Lead in multiple committees and events. Most recently, he represented Toronto EMS as the Operations Lead for the Public Safety Unit at the recent G8/20 Economic Summit.

Michael is currently certified in B.C.J.I.C. Incident Command System Level 300, Emergency Site Management and CBRNe Incident Command Course. Michael received the Exemplary Service Medal in 2009, the Toronto Long Term Service Medal in 2010, and has been a recipient of awards of Valour, Merit and Recognition from Toronto Emergency Medical Services.


George Eliadis

George has been employed with Toronto Emergency Medical Services for 21 years. In 1996 he completed the Toronto EMS ACP program and began as a Field Training Officer for EMS Education and Development one year later.
In 2002 George became a Superintendent with EMS Education and Development. His responsibilities included Clinical Coordinator, ITLS Ontario Chapter Coordinator, External Programs and Special Ops training and development. During this time George trained the RCMP EMRT and Surete du Quebec. George helped implement their medical training and ITLS certifications. In 2005, George completed his Tactical Paramedic training and Public Safety Unit training. He has been deployed on PSU and Tactical call outs. While in training George help create the current Toronto EMS Tactical training program and helped plan tactical exercises for Toronto EMS and Toronto Police. He continues to part of both the Public Safety Unit and Tactical Training Cadres.
George is currently a Deputy Commander with Toronto Emergency Medical Services.
